Error connecting to the database.

This error typically appears when the program first loads and then will keep appearing as long as you try to continue to use the program. No data will be saved or loaded during this time.

If this is your first time running the application, verify that you ran setup.exe during the installation, not Setup.msi. If you are unsure, run setup.exe and the application will be reinstalled with all of the necessary components. If this does not solve the problem try restarting your computer.

If the problem persists, you will need to verify that the appropriate Microsoft components were installed with the program. Follow the appropriate instructions below based on your version of Windows:

Windows XP

  1. Press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL], this should open the Windows Task Manager
  2. Click on the "Processes" tab
  3. Verify that there is a process called "sqlservr" in the list

Windows Vista

  1. Press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL], and then select "Start Task Manager"
  2. Click on the "Processes" tab
  3. Verify that there is a process called "sqlservr" in the list

If this process is not listed, for some reason one of the necessary tools for running the application was not installed. It can be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft website.

If above steps don't resolve the problem, please use the Feedback form at the bottom of the page to contact us.

Payday calculated amounts seem a little off.

First, make sure that you are entering the paycheck amount after taxes and pre-tax amounts have been removed. If this is not the problem, then continue reading for further details. There was a slight error in the calculations performed in the Payday tool in early versions of the program. This error affects version 1.0, but is addressed in version 1.01. The version number of your program can be found on the About page, which is reachable from the Report page. For instructions on how to upgrade your version of Rainy Day Budget to the latest version, please visit the FAQs page.

This problem usually occurs when your computer take too long to process the requested operation. This means that the specified request, whether it was to load or save, was not completed and will need to be repeated. Typically this occurs when a PC is either low on memory, or the PC is heavily involved in other tasks. Try closing other programs, or restarting the computer.

If above steps don't resolve the problem, please use the Feedback form at the bottom of the page to contact us.
